In 1867 the Supreme Court told Mississippi it could not handcuff President Andrew Johnson. Courts cannot enjoin the President in the exercise of his official duties. In 2025 the Court said the sequel is also illegal: one judge cannot issue a universal injunction that binds everyone in America. The judge can protect the people in the lawsuit. The judge cannot bench the President for everybody else
